About Me

My photo
Well, I am not the most outgoing person you will ever come in contact with, but I like to meet new people and travel to new places. I have great friends, some of which I met thanks to the online "world"! I am a teacher to young children with special needs and have also been a foster parent since 2006. I have a beautiful little boy now; I have had him the longest...he is almost 17 months old.

Life throws you curves....but God is there! :)

Ok, I was told that I never update my blog, so I suppose it is time. The past few months have been quite busy and life certainly is not boring! :) First of all, back in June, I took a trip to Indiana to go to a friend's wedding and stayed with friends while there. It was the beautiful wedding of Denise Campbell & Brent Stetler. I only got a few pictures on my phone, though. But, unfortunately, the pictures were destroyed the other day, so I cannot post them now. I had my cell phone in my pocket while on the lawn mower and guess what! Yes, it fell out without my knowledge and crunch/splat/smoke...no more phone. The worse part is I did not have insurance on it and it was the new LG Dare phone that I just bought in the beginning of July...ugh! I lost lots of other pictures and things on there too because they were stored on my sd card. Oh well! Everything happens for a reason! A friend commented that Sally and I are definitely sisters! I guess since she also just had a mishap happen with her phone! :)

Anyway, fostering has also kept me quite busy as we have had three babies less than one-year old in and out of our home since June....all boys mind you. :) Which now that I think about it, some pictures were probably lost of them too. :( We also still have Demetri, who is almost two now. He is a smart, busy and strong-willed child. :) Anyway, there have been times when we had two and three little ones at the same time. So, the playpen, swing, bouncers, and walker have been in use! :) I am also getting another little guy today who is slightly younger than Demetri. I have also still been teaching in early intervention and just finished the summer session last week. So, I am on break (from work, at least :) ) until the middle of August.

Hmm...let's see...what else? I also helped my mother do two Vacation Bible Schools this summer, am still teaching Sunday School, and also am now assisting with a weekly kids' club on Tuesday nights at a different church. So, yes, life is quite hectic! :)

Done Already?!

Well, vacation is over and I went back to work this week...ugh! Oh well, the school year will be over soon! It was a busy break since my friend, Nathan was here and we did a lot in just a few days! And, by the way, he is NOT not my boyfriend and we are definitely not married! It is interesting how some can automatically assume such information! Anyway, here are some pictures from Nathan's camera. He was the photographer mostly; I think I only took one picture the whole time he was here and that was on my cell phone. :)

Thankful for God's help!

I had quite a scare last night! I had taken the baby to the doctor because he was having body jerks and had a fever and the doctor prescribed some medicine. A little while later, when I took Demetri to the store with me to get his prescription and some more over the counter meds for him, he was sitting in the cart and started with the body jerks. But, they didn't stop and he then started convulsing uncontrollably and also drooling. It was so scary for me and I ended up calling 911. People shopping and working at Target were so helpful and also tried to comfort me as it was evident that I was shaken up. It turns out that Demetri's fever had spiked even after being at the doctor. When they took it at the hospital, his temperature had climbed to over 104. He stayed at the hospital for a couple hours and they gave him some meds and an IV and also monitored his heart. Thankfully, during the night, he was so much better and I got up every couple of hours to give him his medicine. I am so thankful God interceded for him and touched him!

YAY! I am on Spring Break! The weather in PA is beautiful and I hope that the next few days are going to be the same way. I have a friend coming in to visit and we are going to NYC and DC to do some sight-seeing. My oldest sister doesn't live too far from DC, so I will get to spend some time with her too! This past weekend we went to the wedding of Pastor John Walter. He is the pastor of the church in which I mainly grew up. The wedding was held in TN...what a long trip! I wish we could have spent more time there, but that did not happen. Oh well! We left after work on Friday and returned home early Sunday morning. I saw some familiar faces and some people I had not seen in years. Here are a few pictures from the event.

Ok, so it has been awhile! Life is busy, of course...and life never seems dull! My laptop died the other week and I was sick for about 2-3 weeks. Then, I finally decided to go to the clinic because !my sickness just would not go away! I about fainted one day, which was a very strange experience. Things turned all black and then I had a "hot flash"! No, I am not menopausal! Anyway, I am feeling much better since I got the antibiotic in me!

Well, it is finally starting to feel like Spring here in PA, but I not sure it is here to stay quite yet! I will be glad when it does, though! Those of you who know me...know I hate the cold!

Today is also my beautiful niece's birthday...she is starting her last year before she becomes a teenager! It is amazing how quickly time goes by!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ADRIANA...Your aunt Sandra loves you!

It has been a few weeks since I posted, so I thought I would send a quick little greeting! I have been quite busy and life has been full of surprises! I am now on Easter break from work, so I have determined that I am going to do some major cleaning this week....ugh! So, I got a start on it today! I know that Spring is approaching because one of my favorite places opened last weekend....Rita's! I stopped there today for the first time this season and found some new things on their menu. :) For those of you who have not visited Rita's, I highly recommend that you stop and check it out! Btw, March 20th is free ice day to celebrate the first day of Spring! :)

Snowing Again!

Well, I am home once again due to the SNOW! I think this is our sixth snow day this school year...ugh!

I hope everyone had a very Happy Valentine's Day! I ended up getting the nasty stomach virus that is going around in our family....ugh...it was awful. I am still not quite myself, but I am feeling much better than I did last night! I did get beautiful gifts in the mail from a special friend, though...so my day was not completely ruined! :)

I'm Back! :)

It has been a very long time since I posted to my blog! I use other programs, such as Facebook and MySpace now, so have neglected the blogging world! :) However, I see many familiar "faces" on here that I do not get a chance to have contact with through the other sites. I hope everyone is doing well! My life continues to be busy and never dull! :) I recently started a different teaching position with the same program with which I have been working for the past few years. I am supporting students in their regular education environments when before I had students come to my classroom to receive their special education services. I do miss being in the classroom, but so far with this new position, my paperwork has been much lighter, which is definitely a plus! One other thing that has drastically changed in my life is that I have been doing foster care now for about 14 months. I have had many children in and out of my home, but currently have a little boy that I have had since April of last year. He is 16 months old and is very busy, and his favorite word is "no"! :) My mother watches him during the day, so that I can still work, which is very helpful! I am not sure if I can post pictures of the "little guy" online, but he is a blue-eyed, red-headed cutie! I also finished my Master's Degree over the summer, so right now I am not taking any classes! I may go back to school in the future, but am taking a break for the time being.
Here is one of the pictures that was taken a few months ago when Sally was home visiting. My grandmother turned 90 in December, so we secretly had a collage made for her and then presented it to her for her birthday!
